As summer begins and the world gets back to normal, we have so much to appreciate, especially our clients, our teams across all the Core Strategic Group companies, and everyone who operates in the political and public affairs space to “do good” in their communities. The rest of 2021 shows huge promise as restaurants reopen, summer trips are planned, and business is conducted in person. Here at CSG, our teams across the country will accelerate a return to the office right after the Independence Day holiday.
I am pleased to share that, even while continuing to work from home, the Core Strategic Group of companies continued to deliver for our clients – whether for a political campaign, a non-profit association or professional society, a corporate public affairs client, or a public sector agency. The big news, however, is a major expansion in our Washington, D.C. office. We are excited to announce that Core Strategic Group is acquiring Washington Media Group (WMG), a D.C.-based, award-winning communications, advocacy, advertising, and research firm. WMG is one of the top media and communications firms in the nation’s capital and has provided critically important counsel to Fortune 100 and other clients, achieving results that have saved hundreds of millions of dollars and preserved critical reputational equity for its clients.
We’re very pleased to welcome them to the CSG family, and look forward to continued growth in the D.C. market. With that, I hope you’ll take a few moments to review the articles below highlighting some of our new capabilities and talent that can be helpful to you in your communications and public affairs efforts. Core Strategic Group Company Successes
We are excited to announce that Gregory Vistica and Brian Boeckman, former members of the Washington Media Group, will join the FSB Public Affairs team. Greg Vistica will join FSBPA as a Senior Vice President and Managing Director of our Washington, D.C. office. He is a crisis management and media turn-around expert who has led integrated communication campaigns to support and protect public policy goals and corporate and individual reputations. Greg is an author and former award-winning investigative reporter for Newsweek, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and was a producer for 60 Minutes. In addition to being selected as a Pulitzer Prize finalist in the national reporting category, he has won a Peabody, a George Polk award, a National Magazine Award, a Heywood Broun honorable mention, received an Emmy nomination, and was a finalist in the International Consortium for Investigative Journalists competition.
Brian Boeckman is an advertising, creative, and storytelling specialist who will be joining FSBPA as the Director of Digital Content. His experience includes creating print and digital advertising campaigns, commercial photography, marketing and branding, web design, social media video campaigns, as well as television and film production work.
We are also pleased to share our team is uniquely qualified to assist with production of quality podcasts from our deep experience as broadcast journalists, public relations professionals, government affairs practitioners, and communications experts. Podcasting’s self-controlled distribution allows for long format conversations that go deep and provide detailed information that stakeholders want. Podcasts are cost-effective, the episodes are instantly shareable, and provide access to highly segmented target audiences of influencers. The audio-only format allows for listeners to commute, watch sports, or complete other tasks while remaining absorbed in the podcast.
We are excited to announce the launch of two blogs at Chariot. The Chariot Edge blog is based on the slogan: “Working Smarter is the Margin of Victory.” Edge is an elections blog focused on how to achieve winning advantages through advanced strategy and tactics in campaigns and elections. Meanwhile, Chariot’s International Blog will focus on the stakes, strategies, and tactics of campaigns happening around the world. Our first international blog focused on the June 2021 presidential election in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the use of the Clubhouse platform by various factions. Visit Chariot’s blog page here.
Recently, Chariot Campaigns President, Jamie Fisfis, was a featured speaker at the 2021 Canvas Summer Academy, which trains activists, dissidents, and campaigners around the world in the tactics and strategies they can use in their activism and nonviolent movements in authoritarian political environments. Jamie’s remarks centered around campaigning in a pandemic and post-pandemic world, where freedoms and democratic spaces are often severely curtailed, but where unique opportunities exist to form new coalitions to unify around positive change.
New York City has been home to one of the most watched elections of 2021, and Core Decision Analytics (CODA) has been at the center of the action. In February, CODA launched “Pulse of the Primary”, a three-part polling series examining the mood of the electorate and state of the race. CODA and Pulse of the Primary received significant media coverage in top-tier publications including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Politico, Bloomberg, Washington Post, and more.
In addition, CODA also served as chief pollster and message strategist to Kathryn Garcia’s historic campaign for New York City mayor. CODA insights guided Garcia from last-place to the top-tier of the ranked choice calculations. Beyond the mayor’s race, CODA conducted data driven modeling, targeting, and messaging for clients engaged in dozens of highly competitive City Council races. While the final election results are still being tallied, many CODA clients are on the path to victory in NYC.
June also brings on the 2020 award season, and C3 Public Strategies (C3) had some big wins this year! Our team brought home two Reed Awards from Campaigns & Elections for the Best Get Out The Vote Execution and the Best Use of Mobile to Support a Field Program. Our team also won the Gold Pollie Award for Best Paid Field Program.
We are so grateful to our entire team and the clients who helped make these wins possible and look forward to more successes as the campaign season starts again this Fall.
Earlier this year, KPA Strategies officially launched “The KPA Report,” a monthly e-newsletter designed to share information and advice for all things related to public affairs campaigns and public relations, as well as investigative and opposition research. Previous editions have covered “Opposition Research 101,” an update on upcoming elections, crisis communications preparation, and a Q&A with Jamie Fisfis, President of Chariot Campaigns to discuss opposition research from a general consultant perspective.
We also invite you to join KPA President Dan Kramer for a Clubhouse conversation with Jamie Fisfis to talk about all things opposition research and political campaigns on July 20.
